Machete robbery at Co-Operative food store
Date published: 08 February 2016
Police are appealing for witnesses after a machete-wielding robber took off with several thousand pounds from a Co-Operative food store on Saturday morning (6 February).
The robber threatened a female security officer with the large blade as she was carrying a cash in transit box back to her van at the store on Rooley Moor Road, Spotland, before making off with the large amount of cash.
Police were called to the scene at 10.40am, but the robber had already fled in what is only identified as a dark blue car.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and that anyone with information should come forward immediately.
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8701, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
