Regal Moon closed for three months due to flood damage
The Regal Moon in Rochdale Town Centre will be closed for at least three months due to flood damage. The pub was under water for most of Boxing Day as the River Roch burst its banks and flooded from Number One Riverside across town to the bottom of Yorkshire Street.
A spokesman for JD Wetherspoon said: "Your information re the pub being closed for at least three months is correct.
"We can confirm that the pub was completely flooded on Boxing Day, as was the town. There was a total loss of power and flood water, including raw sewage, in all areas of the pub.
"All flooring has been removed to see how much damage has been caused. We also need to ascertain the extent of the contamination from the raw sewage.
"The Regal Moon is currently closed and, at present, we do not have a date for re-opening."
