Increased anti-social behaviour problems at bus station

Police in Rochdale are hoping to combat anti-social behaviour in the town centre bus station following an increase in incidents over the past couple of months.
Last month alcohol was confiscated from underage drinkers and an arrest was made following a public order incident.
The main perpetrators are known to the police and have been warned about their behaviour at the bus station and have been issued with exclusion notices but these measures have not been effective in dealing with the problem.
Police have applied for ASBOs to be imposed on the offenders, with a view to prohibiting them from the bus station altogether.
Patrols have been increased at weekends to try and tackle the problem.
A police spokesperson said: "Work is currently ongoing to ensure Rochdale bus station offers a safer environment for its users and employees.
"High visibility patrol by police officers, community support officers and effective use of the town link radio between bus station staff and the police ensure a quick response to incidents."
