St Andrew's, Dearnley raise over £1,000
Date published: 24 October 2014
Parishioners and friends of St Andrew's, Dearnley were superbly entertained by young choristers and young musicians at the opening of the church's annual Autumn Fair.
Songs were sung by the choir from Holy Trinity Primary School, Littleborough, while well-known brass-band pieces were played by up-and-coming young musicians from St Andrew’s Primary School and the district's Junior Blast.
Everyone was welcomed by the vicar, the Rev Sharon Jones, who thanked the large numbers for their attendance and the members of choir and band for their musical contributions which, she said, were of a high standard and superbly delivered.
The formalities over, the Fair was thrown open to ‘shoppers’ and ‘bargain-hunters’, who supported the many stalls, raffles etc and collectively raised the fantastic sum of £1,069 for church funds in little over two hours.
St Andrew’s would like to thank everyone who helped or contributed in any way, especially all the people who turned up to support this event, which is one of the biggest and most rewarding fund-raisers on the church calendar.
