Rochdale Women’s Welfare held a special event, including workshops and dancing, on International Women’s Day on Thursday (8 March).

International Women's Day is a day for women to come together to acknowledge the importance of gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women.

Amongst the workshops held, one about conflict resolution was facilitated by Christine Cox and her team from the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation. The charity works nationally and internationally for peace with non-violent conflict resolution.

Other activities included armchair keep fit, acupuncture, hand massage, threading and henna. In the afternoon, there was dance display before the women showed their dance moves.

Centre manager Khaldha Manzoor said: “Thank you to every woman who attended. Thank you also to all the different agencies that put on the workshops and the volunteers who provided the other services. The day was a huge success.”
