CAFOD “Bird or Bat Box” Party

The Year 10a Developmental Studies classes hosted a Bat or Bird boxes (BOB Box) Party for staff here at St. Cuthbert’s.

They were invited for cake and coffee as part of one of their challenges within the course.

This involved them working together as a group whilst also providing a service to community.

They chose a tea party to raise money for CAFOD through the promotion of BOB boxes which is our chosen Christmas charity this year.

All of the students contributed by welcoming staff, taking drink orders and making the tea. Staff thoroughly enjoyed the party and Year 10a raised £46 in total.

Embrace Youth Conference - Liverpool Cathedral

We are so proud of St. Cuthbert's pupils who joined hundreds of other young people at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool for the Embrace Youth Conference on Saturday.

The theme of the conference was "Called" and gave the young people there the opportunity to explore what God is calling them to do with their lives through drama, music, talks and testimonies, workshops and prayer.

Our group joined a workshop with Jo Boyce, the Director of CJM Music and were so impressive we became part of the choir for Holy Mass celebrated by Archbishop Malcolm McMahon at the end of the event.

Our pupils all said they had had an amazing time making new friends and taking part.

RE News - Progress and challenge

In RE Miss Lally's Year 8 class took up the challenge of completing a “Golden Ticket” task.

The task encouraged the students to complete a question that is more challenging than the work they are normally set. In this particular group the students were all working on descriptive skills.

They chose to do a question which would stretch them further when putting forward agree and disagree arguments.

Well done to Terence Obiyani and Josias Kiasuka in 8B3 who were the first to complete the challenge and produced some extremely impressive work.
