Jack and the Magic School: Springside School celebrating 10th anniversary with own pantomime

Date published: 12 December 2017

Springside School is celebrating its 10th year anniversary of opening by producing and performing its own pantomime, 'Jack and the Magic School'.

Richard Kershaw, Creative Arts Lead, said: “In typical Springside fashion, the traditional fairy tale of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' has been subjected to a fun and novel twist.

“The pantomime includes familiar characters from a wide variety of stories including the three bears, scarecrow, tin man, scaredy lion and The Mad Hatter.

“The lead role of 'Jack', is played by Brooklyn Baxter and all of the current Year 6 pupils have major parts to play in proceedings; as well as from all classes throughout the school.”

An extension is currently in the process of being completed and takes a pivotal role in this topical story line.

Mr Kershaw added: "The school would like to take this opportunity to thank local benefactors who have helped to support this community venture, Rochdale AFC, Cleland McIver and Springhill Hospice."

There are two performances on Wednesday 20 December at 10am and Thursday 21 December at 1.30pm.

Parents of pupils attending the school are asked to purchase their tickets, 50p including a drink and mince pie, at the earliest opportunity from the school office in order to avoid any disappointment.
