Eight-year-old Lily Rose Bradley organises coffee morning and cake sale for Springhill Hospice

Date published: 11 August 2017

Eight-year-old Lily Rose Bradley has organised a coffee morning and cake sale to raise funds for Springhill Hospice in memory of her great-grandmother, Sheila Scott.

During her 15-year battle with cancer, Sheila visited and stayed at the Hospice, although she was too poorly to be moved from hospital. She died at the age of 72 on 25 August 2016. She had two great-grandchildren, Lily Rose and Gracie Mai, aged four.

Lily’s aunt, Charlotte Duckworth, said: “It’s all been organised by Lily Rose. She wants to raise as much as she can for the Hospice as they did a lot for my grandma and made sure she was extremely comfortable towards the end of her life. The Hospice who doesn't get enough credit for the work that they do.

“My grandma lived for her grandchildren and family. She looked after us all when we grew up, she was our everything.”

It costs £8,200 a day to keep the Hospice open. Only one third of this cost is funded by the government, with the remainder coming from donations and sales made at the charity shops and tea rooms.

The coffee morning and cake sale will take place between 12 and 2pm on Sunday 27 August at St Mary’s Parish Centre in Littleborough.
