Easter Competitions

The annual Easter bonnet parade was held at the Lower Prep.

The children all paraded around the hall as the winners were judged by Miss Marcroft. It was a difficult decision but they were:

Nursery – Lucas Ogden
Reception-Yusuf Rizwan
Key Stage 1 -Maria Hussein

The standard in the Upper Prep at the ‘Paint an Egg’ completion was equally high.

The winner here was Rayan Hussain with Rico Bernales and Harry Hurst-Grover the runners up.

North of England ISA Dance finals

The atmosphere on the bus down to Bowdon for the North of England ISA Dance finals was summed up by the group’s attire: vibrant and glowing.

All students were excited for their first experience on stage for school and, accompanied by the helpful assistant Grace Egerton, the bus was in a great mood. Having arrived at the venue hassle free, the pupils from Y3-Y6 had almost two hours to wait until their performance.

There were some excellent dances for the guys to watch and take inspiration, ranging from cheerleading to contemporary, and Miss Lowe – the dance specialist – loved every minute.

As the time came for Beech House to dance, the student’s nerves were clear to see. These were matched by excitement, however, and as they approached the stage all were ready to perform. ‘Don’t Stop the Beat’ was blown out of the park (or should I say off the stage) and the accompanying teachers could not have been any more proud of the show that was put on.

Trip to Liverpool by Sami Hasan

We went with our Music teacher, Mr Boardman and our Headmaster, Mr Sartain. We went in our school bus. On the way, my partner and I played games. When we arrived at Liverpool, we went to a Cathedral. The Cathedral was huge and magnificent. When we entered, we saw delicate organs, beautiful stained windows and a beautiful decorated altar. We ate our lunch outside the Cathedral.

Then, all of us went to the Liverpool World Museum. When we entered, there was a huge pterodactyl skeleton. Its’ head was big and its’ body was small. There were different types of fish. We also saw crabs, starfishes and prawns. There was also an exhibit with cultural artefacts such as Mexican head-dresses and Chinese armour, an animal exhibition which included stuffed animals and delicate dinosaur skeletons.

Finally, we listened to an orchestra play fantastic pieces made by composers. We also learnt some more names of composers and their advice. Four musicians played Darth Vader’s theme song from Star Wars and also the musicians’ bows had lights around them to look like light sabres.

Rowing

Once again, the School did Rochdale proud at the Greater Manchester School Games rowing. Sophie Wilkinson, Alfie Mayer and Bradley Outram all achieved individual silver medals in their respective races. Brandon Stephens won a bronze in his event. They entered the under 16 relay and were silver medallist in that event.
