Use it or lose it

Date published: 26 October 2015

Littleborough Civic Trust has served the Littleborough Community for over 40 years. Unless the Community support it now it will be lost forever.

The Civic Trust was formed in 1971.

It has been involved in many major initiatives over the years. Littleborough Coach House Trust, Littleborough Town Design Statement, Hollingworth Lake Country Park, Littleborough Conservation Areas, Barker’s Wood, Hare Hill House and Littleborough Neighbourhood Forum to name a few.

Iain Gerrard has for many years been Secretary of the Trust. He has now had to stand down and the Committee have suggested that the Trust should be wound up.

Some members feel that the residents of Littleborough would lose an organisation of influence if we allow this to happen. It can be avoided if we restructure and form a new committee.

The Littleborough Civic Trust meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7.30 pm in Littleborough Coach House, Lodge Street, Littleborough OL15 0JB

Anyone who would be interested in keeping the Littleborough Civic Trust can help by:

  • Applying to join by sending a letter with your name and address to Joan Smith, Hon Treasurer, 23 Shakespeare Close, Littleborough, OL15 9QF with a cheque for the annual membership fee in the sum of £5.00 payable to 'Littleborough Civic Trust'
  • Send any other enquiries or suggestions John F Kay c/o Molesworths Bright Clegg, Solicitors, Octagon House, 25/27 Yorkshire Street, Rochdale, OL16 1RH
  • Attend the next ordinary meeting on Tuesday 10 November 2015 at Littleborough Coach House
  • Attend the Special General Meeting to consider winding up which will be held on Tuesday 8 December 2015 at Littleborough Coach House
  • Send an expression of interest by email to tonyjoan147@btinternet.com or jkay@molesworths.co.uk

Littleborough is noted for its organised public activities. You might consider it as having the stability given by three legs.

  • Littleborough Events & Associations Forum organises the Community events and
  • Pennine Business & Tourism Forum organises business promotions and
  • Littleborough Civic Trust protects the quality of changes in our Town and its environment

We are in danger of losing one of those legs. Don’t let it happen. Now is the time for action.
