Pennine Photographic and Binocular in the Rochdale Online Department Store

Date published: 04 August 2014

Pennine Photographic and Binocular, a premier stockist of the major brands of digital cameras, binoculars, telescopes and accessories for photography and bird watching is extending its reach locally by selling products in the Rochdale Online Department Store.

Having previously sold online at more of a national level, the company want to make people aware of their business on a local level and see the Rochdale Online Department Storeas the ideal vehicle to do so.

Mike Moore from Pennine Photographic and Binocular said: “This is a good opportunity to promote ourselves on a more local level and to let people know that Pennine Photographic is here in Rochdale.”

Established in 1987, Pennine Photographic and Binocular stocks a wide range of cameras, binoculars and optical equipment and Mike is currently selecting specific items to list on the store that he believes will sell locally.

He added: “I am being selective with what I put online because what we sell isn’t for everyone so I have to take the time to choose the right things to put in the store. Though I would like everything on there at some point.”

Currently listed in the Rochdale Online Department Store, Pennine Photographic and Binocular has cameras, camera equipment, camera bags and binoculars for sale.

“The site is very simple to use,” said Mike.

By 2022 it is expected that a third of all UK retail sales will take place online – a figure that will have increased from the 10% of today. The Rochdale Online Department store is offering local retailers the chance to adapt to this change by selling their products online through a trusted name.

Mike said: “I think Rochdale Online have reached out to local retailers and offered them a trusted and secure way of selling. There are not many media outlets locally that can help you promote your business the way that Rochdale Online does.”

A study conducted by the Centre for Local Economic Strategies for the FSB, found that for every £1.00 spent locally, 50-70p recirculates back into the local economy. If that £1.00 was spent out of town, a mere 5p would trickle back to the local community.

“People should look at the store and use the store because it is a great way for people to shop locally through a trusted name with trusted independent retailers,” said Mike.
