CJ’s Baby Boutique in the Rochdale Online Department Store

Date published: 14 July 2014

Parents in Rochdale are being encouraged to use the Rochdale Online Department Store to buy their little ones unique and one off pieces from CJ’s Baby Boutique.

The boutique is selling a variety of baby and toddler clothes through the online store and can provide parents with rarer items compared to those stocked in a national store.

Carol Jackson, from CJ’s Baby Boutique, said: “We don’t tend to buy the same thing twice so once something is gone it’s gone and I think that is why people should be using us compared to larger places. You could describe our products as somewhat unique because I only get a small number of each item and I don’t tend to buy them again.”

By using the Rochdale Online Department Store to buy these one off pieces of clothing, shoppers are supporting local independent retailers.

Carol added: “I wanted to get involved with the store because of the shop local ethos. It is all about shop local Rochdale and that is what I liked.”

As well asl using the store to sell clothes, Carol is also selling pram accessories and gifts.

“I have sold online before,” said Carol “but with this it is easy to manage and it is easy to sort out what has been sold compared to others ways I have done it.”

CJ’s Baby Boutique currently has over 30 products listed on the Rochdale Online Department Store with Carol continuing to add more as and when she can. She added: “I am trying to add two or three products a day so I can get as much on there as possible.

The Rochdale Online Department store provides a simple platform for local and independent retailers to sell their products online. Retailers simply list their products on the site for free with Rochdale Online handling all other aspects of the store.

Carol added: “It is quite simple to use and that is something I like.”

July is Independent Retailer month so now, more than ever is a great time to support local retailers.

Clare Rayner, the Retail Champion and founder of Independent Retailer Month, said: “Purchases in independent retailers will mean so much more to your local community – that money will recirculate back to your local economy and help your town prosper.”
