Heywood Accessories and Spares in the Rochdale Online Department Store

Date published: 30 June 2014

Why shop at a national car accessory store when you can support a local business and shop at Heywood Accessories and Spares via the Rochdale Online Department Store?

Currently displaying over 250 products in the store, Heywood Accessories and Spares has everything from accessories and spares to cleaning products and manuals listed at competitive prices.

Chris Andrews, from Heywood Accessories and Spares, said: “It is one of the easiest sites I have used to do this type of thing. Everything is really simple to do.”

The company decided to get on board with the Rochdale Online Department Store as a way of reaping the benefits of using Rochdale Online. “It is free to use and there is free advertising and promotion of our store so it is a good thing to get involved with from the promotion aspect as well as the selling aspect,” said Chris.

One customer who ordered from Heywood Accessories and Spares via the Rochdale Online Department Store said: “It was easy to use and it was really quick to find what I was looking for. I ordered my item on Saturday evening and it was ready for collection on Monday afternoon. The option for me to pick up from the Feel Good Café was useful as I work in the town centre.”

The store has seen a number of orders placed since the launch of the Rochdale Online Department Store and is looking forward to receiving more.

“In the two weeks it has been launched, we have received a number of orders and we hope that we continue to get more through,” said Chris.

So far, the business has 286 products listed online and has plenty more to come.

“We definitely have a lot more to come and we will keep going until we can’t put anymore on,” said Chris.

Chris is also encouraging local people to use the department store rather than using national chains such as Halfords.

He added: “I would definitely tell people to use this over somewhere like Halfords. I have been sharing it on our Facebook page and letting people know as much as I can because it is important for people to know about us and this new initiative.”

Clare Rayner, the Retail Champion and founder of Independent Retailer Month says: “Most people don’t realise how valuable their custom is to their local, independent businesses.”

“We need these customers to understand how their hard-earned cash can boost their local economy, depending on where they choose to spend it.

“Every pound spent with independent retailers in your local town or village is worth ten times more to your community than if you spent it elsewhere."
