Obituary: Mike Wrigley
Date published: 29 August 2013
Mike Wrigley has passed away and will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Mike, who acted as treasurer of STORM (Support the Oldham Rochdale Manchester line) developed a lifelong interest in railways after living closely to the Royton railway station. After obtaining a degree in mathematics at the University of Manchester, Mike started a teaching career at Chadderton Grammar School. On his retirement from teaching, Mike took up the role of school bursar.
Mike was a member of STORM for over twenty years and represented the interests of his local station, Mills Hill. He became a volunteer for station adopters which saw him keeping an eye on a designated Northernrail station and the last station he looked after was Salford Crescent.
Mike, who aws born in Royton, campaigned tirelessly in his local area for public transport services and has been described as a great supporter and campaigner. Richard Greenwood, Chairman of STORM said: “His input at the monthly meetings will be sorely missed.”
