Karen Danczuk sells her Rochdale delicatessen

Date published: 02 February 2015

Councillor Karen Danczuk has confirmed the sale of her delicatessen on The Walk in Rochdale just weeks after announcing she would be stepping down as a councillor in May.

Currently recovering from glandular fever, Councillor Danczuk said she’d decided to go ahead with the private sale because she wanted to reduce her commitments and achieve a better balance of work and family life.

“I’ve been juggling too many commitments and there’s just not enough hours in the day,” she said.

“I’m pleased to have introduced another business to Rochdale’s town centre and I will continue supporting business in our town because I want to see it carry on developing as a great place to shop and socialise.”

The company was incorporated on 1 February 2013 and the deli, in Rochdale town centre, opened on 7 December 2013.

The latest accounts lodged at Companies House (period 1 February 2013 to 28 February 2014) show the company, Danczuk's Delicatessen Ltd, suffered a loss and had net laibilities at 28 February 2014 of £7,953. As the next accounts are not due until November 2015 the current position is not known.

On 6 August 2014 Danczuk Media Ltd - a company which will assist in the production of media articles - was set up by the Danczuks with Karen and Simon Danczuk as shareholders.

Asked to whom the delicatessen has been sold, a spokesman for Councillor Danczuk said an announcement will be made in due course.

The delicatessen will be re-named Café on the Walk.
