Andrew Nutter to launch gastro pub in Birtle

Date published: 04 December 2014

Award winning chef Andrew Nutter is set to launch a gastro pub in Birtle.

The celebrity chef has taken over the Bird I’th Hand pub on Rochdale Road and is planning on turning it into a top notch gastro pub.

Andrew said: “We decided on the location because when we are full at Nutters we don’t have anywhere to send our customers so we thought why not use the Bird I’th Hand which is down the road and go from there.”

Andrew and his family hope to submit planning permission to the council as soon as possible with the aim of opening the new venture at Easter or in summer next year.

Plans include extending the existing kitchen and transforming the upstairs of the pub to create a larger dining space. He also wants to create a champagne terrace at the rear of the venue.

“We really want to take advantage of the views and the scenery because the views are amazing so the champagne terrace will really give people the opportunity to enjoy those views,” added Andrew.

The new restaurant, which Andrew is planning to call ‘Nutters at Bird I’th Hand’, will hold up to 100 covers and will offer “tasty gastro food at good prices”.

Andrew added: “This will be good for Rochdale because it will create jobs for people and opportunities for people. We’re really looking forward to it.”
