Refurbished Rochdale pub to revitalise community
Date published: 09 November 2012
A Rochdale pub, which hopes to become a thriving hub for the community, opened tonight (Friday 9 November) after undergoing a huge refurbishment.
The Norden Arms, located in Edenfield Road, Norden, was bought by lawyer and successful property investor Edward Smethurst.
After a 16-week refurbishment, specially-invited guests were welcomed at 6pm tonight before the doors opened to the public at 9pm.
General Manager Adrian Bleackley hopes it can fill a void in the area: “We want to revitalise the community,” he said.
“There was nowhere in the community to meet up for a drink or to socialise.
“When we saw this, we both thought it was a good opportunity to create that.
“Hopefully it will go from strength to strength and if it takes off it can become a real hub for the community.”
Mr Bleackley explained they have also taken on a head chef who will provide traditional English meals from locally sourced ingredients, while cask ales will be served on draught.
