Graduates set up own architecture firm at No.2 The Esplanade

Date published: 11 July 2023

Two young graduates have set up their own architecture firm in Rochdale town centre.

Subhaan Ali, 25, and Rahul Rahman, 24, both of Rochdale, set up Adept Design Ltd around eight months ago and are now based at No.2 The Esplanade.

Both graduated from the University of Salford and Subhaan worked from his home office before the pair moved to the town centre office.

Subhaan says they were drawn to the Esplanade because it suited their business needs, being a central point in Rochdale.

He said: “This area provides close amenities etc. and is across from the famous town hall, a structure which is an attraction within itself, and one which we want our clients to see and experience the beauty of.

“Additionally with the whole town renovation and restructure, we wanted our clients to experience that journey. A lot of times, Rochdale is not considered to be a place of professionalism. However, we wanted to show there is that aspect within the right areas and want to portray this in a positive light.

“A lot of our clients who are not from the local area are really surprised as to how nice the town centre actually is. We want to set the highest of standards and prove a clean and modern working environment for our team and we felt all the following was achieved at The Esplanade.”

The Adept Design director added: “We are building control partners for Rochdale Council. Number One Riverside is walking distance away, which also suits the company needs, as we can check in with our partners in person rather than over Teams or the phone, which makes the whole process easier for all.”

The duo previously worked for leading industry firms within the engineering department, with experience in many areas, such as infrastructure design including highways and drainage, programme and project management, structural survey and inspections and the most important being architectural works.

Adept also specialises in home extension and new development, and also offer garden design services.
