The Works to open in Middleton

Date published: 06 July 2017

The Works will be opening its new store in Middleton Shopping Centre on Friday (7 July).

The family-friendly value retailer has seen a rapid growth in recent years and the new 2,000 sq ft store will generate six new jobs.

CEO Kevin Keaney, said: “Our stores have been affectionately called ‘Aladdin’s caves’ by our customers and we are delighted to be able to bring our unique offer to Middleton and generating new jobs for the Rochdale area. We look forward to being part of the Middleton community in the years to come.”

Middleton Shopping Centre Manager Lynette Howgate said: “We are delighted to welcome The Works to Middleton Shopping Centre and feel they will add to our growing retail and leisure mix. This is also a great addition to Middleton and is creating new jobs.”

The Works is the UK’s leading value retailer of books, toys, gifts, stationery, arts and crafts, and hobbies, offering good quality alternatives to full price specialist sellers. Established in 1981 as ‘Remainders Limited’, it was re-branded as The Works in 2003.

With over 395 stores trading in the UK, the new premises mark a return to the Rochdale borough for the first time in over four years.

In March 2013, The Works store in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre in Rochdale closed its doors for good as it was no longer commercially viable.
