Ukrainians in Rochdale will be holding a commemoration on 25th November at 1.00pm in the Memorial Gardens.

At 2.00pm, there will be a service of commemoration at St. Chad’s church at which we will be joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, as well as local MPs and local councillors.

The commemoration will begin with the blessing of the memorial and laying of wreaths to the victims of the Holodomor.

This will be followed by a memorial service at St Chad’s Church.

The years 2022-2023 mark the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor – the man-made famine in Ukraine in which millions of Ukrainians were systematically and deliberately starved to death. The Ukrainian community worldwide commemorates this tragedy annually on the fourth Saturday of November.
