Details:
Food Waste Action Week and Fairtrade Fortnight.
It is Food Waste Action week (6th to 12th March) and Fairtrade Fortnight (27th February to 12th March) so Rochdale Pioneers are opening on a Saturday to mark both events! Why?
Co-ops all over the country highlight Fair Trade and ethically traded goods every year and although we are not a food co-op, we did start them off here in Rochdale, and we want to do our part in encouraging local people to buy ethically and to reduce their food waste at the same time.
Fight Food Waste
They are working with Rochdale Borough Council’s Environmental Team because reducing food waste is one of the most practical ways people can make changes to save money and help look after the planet.
Join Rochdale Pioneers Museum on Saturday 11 March and:
Have a go at co-operative soup making in the learning loft using seasonal British vegetables from local co-ops in Rochdale, which would otherwise be going to waste. Take home some tasty and healthy soup which is also halal.
Limited spaces. Please book at museum@heritagetrust.coop.
*Very important, please read the attached notice below about food allergens before you book! *
Find out more about being a Food Hero and try some tips and hints at home.
Donated food comes from Caboodle – the co-op platform for sharing food with charities.
Entry fee: Free. Donations welcome.
