ORTOA (Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside Organists’ Association) continues its series of recitals at Rochdale Parish Church with a performance by the celebrated organist, choral director and composer - Simon Lindley.
Trained at the Royal College of Music, Simon has spent most of his considerable career since 1975 based in the West Riding, mainly as organist at Leeds Parish Church and Town Hall. He is a former President of the Royal College of Organists and the Incorporated Association of Organists and holder of several doctorates and fellowships.
His recital will consist of British and international organ masterpieces beginning with Cantique by Elgar with whom he has a great affinity. Then the German Prince Johann Ernst (transcribed by JS Bach), the modern British composer Robert Cockcroft, plus French Jean Langlais, Belgian Joseph Jongen, Australian/British George Thalben-Ball, Italian Marco Bossi and a grand finale of March in C by French composer Lefébure-Wély.
St Chad’s is Covid-compliant.
We start at 3pm and the concert lasts an hour. You will be very welcome.
