Rochdale Roadshow Challenging Extremism

The national charity Karma Nirvana is hosting a series of Roadshows, with one visiting Rochdale on Friday 27 September. The roadshow highlights tackling honour based abuse and building community resilience to challenge extremist behaviour, supported by Home Office’s – Building a Stronger Britain Together programme.

The event in Rochdale takes place at Number One Riverside, OL16 1XU, 10am to 3pm.

The conference is supported by Rochdale Borough Council and speakers will include survivors of honour based abuse and forced marriage.

Nazir Afzal OBE will provide a key note speech to open the day.

Payzee Malika, is the courageous sister of Banaz Mahmod who was sadly murdered by her family for bringing perceived shame on the family.

Lucky Roy Singh will be sharing his experience of honour-based abuse and speaking about his life as a gay Sikh male. Lucky is the author of Take a Walk in my Big Indian Heels.

Karma Nirvana’s Executive Director, Natasha Rattu will provide best practice knowledge and guidance for the audience to better identify and support victims across the local area.
