Community Events
The community aspect of Woolies is evident in the range of groups which hold regular meetings in the function room
These events range from charity fund raising, cultural activities, sports organisations, Friends of groups and many other pastimes and interest groups.
Charity events
In the past and ongoing, Guide Dogs, Rochdale Hospice, children in need, The Lions and many other local and national charities have enjoyed a special welcome from the club and its members.
Cultural events
One of the highlights of the year at the club is St Georges Day, 23rd April, when our English culture is celebrated in music and song, Land of Hope and Glory always a popular finale. St Georges flag and attire are also a feature. Not just English culture, the Scottish Society meet monthly and have regular special events, whiskey tasting and Burns Night as would be expected, amongst others.
Amateur dramatics is also featured with AMDRAM groups rehearsing musicals and the ever popular St Gabriel’s panto is rehearsed in the function room.
Sports Groups
Sporting groups, horse riding, cycling, driving and golf, the Windmill Golf Society is based at the club, all enjoy the facilities of a spacious meeting area.
