Under One Umbrella
In Wardleworth at present, it’s very plain to see,
That we’ve many different cultures, and sometimes we disagree.
So let’s copy all the children and learn to live in harmony,
But well only do it under one umbrella.
Some of us were born in countries far across the foam,
And we’ve all come here to Wardleworth to find a pleasant home.
But we should have realised that we can’t do it on our own,
So let’s get under one umbrella.
Learning foreign languages can be an awful chore,
But don’t be afraid to join us, though your English may be poor.
For a smile is universal and opens many a door,
So let’s laugh together under one umbrella.
We can keep our separate cultures, it’s important that we do.
You don’t want to live like us and we don’t want to live like you.
But that doesn’t mean that bitterness and anger must ensue.
Don’t forget, we’re under one umbrella.
It really isn’t impossible to change things in a hurry,
But if people are more tolerant, there’s little need to worry.
You get Muslims eating fairy cakes and Christians eating curry.
We’ve changed eating habits under one umbrella.
Your neighbour may be white or black or brown, but you will find,
That it doesn’t really matter, just as long as they are kind.
In fact, if we keep trying and well all end up colour blind,
And well enjoy living under one umbrella.
