4th World Age Group Games in Hobart, July 2017
U19 Men narrowly beaten in Final
GB U19 Mens team wrapped up a convincing 6:0 victory over Argentina on day 7 and advanced to the Semi-final where they beat New Zealand 2:1. They needed to be in top form for the final against France on day 9 but lost by a penalty goal awarded against them. Silver medals and a determination to go one better next time. Well done guys.
The U19 Women won their elimination game at the start of the day 6 but lost their match to a fresh Australian Team in their quarterfinal match-up on day 7.
They played off against the USA in a match that saw the American winners take 5th place overall. Watching in the UK meant staying up late as the matches started after midnight! (UK time)
U19 Men Day 3:
4 games, 4 wins...
Overcame a very strong kiwi side winning 5-2
Hardest game so far but the boys are proving themselves to be a world class side
Another difficult day tomorrow playing the USA in the morning and then France in the afternoon
Day 2 summary
GB Under 19 girls
A day of 2 halves. Started off playing New Zealand who were pretty amazing. We lost 15:0 . Only saving grace was that we kept them out for 7 min at the start of the second half. Our second game however was against Canada. They only have 8 players and one was ill so they were down to 7 but we did beat them 10:0. I asked the girls to get everyone on the score sheet and they almost managed it. Play Colombia tomorrow and then Canada for a second time.

Update from the World Championships in Hobart, Australia
Under 19 Girls (including Rochdale's Becci Northover) had a practise game against Colombia . They lost 4:0 but at times looked the better team. Lots of positives to take from it. Another practice match against USA tomorrow. Great photo showing both teams together and illustrating the friendly nature of underwater hockey once the match is over!!
