26-27 March was the National Qualifiers at the John Charles Aquatic Centre, Leeds , with four players from the Rochdale Club playing for the Manchester B team. Congratulations to Jacob Redmond Ethan Redmond Adam Thetford and Mick Hyde
The top 24 teams in the country competed for 2 days. A round Robin of matches took place on each day.
The outcome determines who the top 8 teams are that go through to the National Finals weekend in June to play for the accolade of National Champion.
Teams 9-16 go through to the National Finals to play for the Plate Trophy.
Teams 17-24 played off for the Bowl trophy last Sunday.
Manchester B team played some very tough matches on Saturday, but were unable to progress to the final 16. This meant that on Sunday they were playing in the Bowl competition.
Once again they were tough matches, with medals and a trophy to play for, the last two matches were against the teams who finished first and second overall.
Both were close games, against Sussex the result was a draw and against Bournemouth and Southampton, the score was a 2-1 loss, despite Manchester B having the bulk of possession, they were unable to break down the B&S defence.
The team enjoyed the competition and had the consolation of bronze medals and are now training hard for the next tournament.
