June,2024, Club Meeting Notes
Rochdale Philatelic Society, 11th. June 2024 Club Meeting Press Release
Our evenings entertainment consisted of members presentations from specialist collections. We began with French stamps depicting many Parisian city landmarks and commemorative covers about the building and operation of the channel tunnel.
A selection of New Zealand coil stamps shown, began with the first issues in 1930 of commemoratives. Coils were about 500 stamps long, with gap numbers every 20 stamps to indicate sales to date and stamps remaining yet to sell.
Maltese overprints and revenue stamps included many boarding passes and passports with attached revenue stamps to cover airport taxes.
A collection of World War One commemorative stamp sheets from around the commonwealth provided fascinating topics from major battles.
Our evening was completed with one members experiences of Malaysia and its stamps, including recordings of native bird songs.
New members are always welcome at our meetings which are held at the Rochdale Unitarian Church on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 pm. Our next evening will be about G.B. Victorian stamps
