“All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
Sisters and Brothers,
Greetings in the name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Whilst people in general rush out to enjoy and celebrate life under the summer sun, Christian believers are transitioning from the two-month season when we celebrated and reflected on the death, the resurrection and the ascension of Jesus Christ. We then encountered the power of the Holy Spirit, to encourage and enable us to go out to face the reality of life as well as sharing the good news of the Gospel; the same way after three years under Jesus’ mentorship day by day, the initial disciples were told “…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15).
When Jesus told His disciples to go into the World, he also said to them that “…they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them" (Mark 16:18), as He knew exactly how the world would treat them. This scripture clearly sets out a warning that the true disciples would encounter hard times, difficulties including persecution, being despised and losing their loved ones. Jesus encouraged them to trust in Him, as He went through difficult times to the point of death on the cross, and never gave up, as His death was purposely set out to free us all from sin.
From the very first initial call into discipleship and preaching the Gospel, Christians around the world have all the mandate to revive, encourage, share, inspire, empower and lift each other up by seeing God at work in and through each one of them, every step along the way. This means that at some point in our lives, we will experience injustice, sadness, wrong accusations, lose our loved ones, heart-break and even tears will flow in our eyes. However, I have learned a simple, deep and powerful truth: “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". (Romans 8:28).
God is in control, and He purposely knows what happens to us. His love
never changes, never fails and never betrays, that is why all things (good or bad, simple, easy, difficult, challenging, etc), work for our good even when it is hard to understand it. The more we encounter the difficulties of the life, the more we get closer to God’s mercy and faithfulness. Let us be comforted by the fact that all things work together for our good according to His purpose in the name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Yours in his service,
Probationer Minister, Deacon Marcianne Uwimana.
