Minutes of the 71st meeting on Tuesday 15th June 2010.
Present: Cllr Peter Evans(Chairman), Brian Holden, Barry Horner, John F Kay, John Kershaw, Ray McDonald, Tony Peplow, Bob Weatherley,
Apologies for Absence: Roger Davis, Cynthia Davis, Keith Hallam.
1. Minutes of the meeting on 18th May 2010 had been circulated and were approved.
2. Matters arising
a. The New Canal Committee - It was suggested that Cllr David Clayton might have further information
b. Mechplant barrier at Schofield St – After much discussion it is left with Cllr Peter Evans to deal with Tim Wood at RMBC
c. Ealees Café – Tony Peplow explained his intentions. He is appealing the planning refusal. He has general support if temporary building looks better and is within town design statement objectives
3. Tow Path Improvements
a. Final phase about to start. Still no change in drainage specifications
b. We consider that after one winters frosts surface will deteriorate
4. Durn Marina.
a. JFK now knows the name of the developer and is seeking a meeting
b. Agreed that construction of a Dry Dock would be beneficial. It would rent out at £300 per day.
c. BW have extended our “Expression of interest” but not for long enough
d. JFK is seeking a meeting with Stephen Dancuk MP and Jim Dobbin MP about the wasted water at Summit
5. Waterways Trust is planning and event at Summit organised by Lucy Rogers on 31st July/1st August 2010. There will be wide publicity
6. Rochdale Canal Society’s annual event will be at Summit on 18th-19th September 2010.
