Minutes of 114th meeting on 17th June 2014

- Minutes of 20th May 2014 meeting (no. 113) were approved. John Kay apologised for the quality of the minutes.
- Littleborough Neighbourhood Forum
- Work on a Neighbourhood Plan, which would provide additional requirements to the Local Authority Local Plan in specific areas of concern, was now in hand. This might take over a year to complete.
- The Canal Sub-Group is chaired by Peter Evans. Bob Furnell wishes to be on this group
- Durn Marina and Tour Boat Project
- John Kay and Bob Furnell updated the meeting about the project to create a tour boat on the section of canal between Ealees and Clegg Hall
- Keith Hallam and Brian Holden have inspected the boat with Bob Furnell and agree that it is suitable and seems to be good value
- A 22ft boat has been purchased and will be moved to the Rochdale Canal Society locked compound at Durn Littleborough. Volunteers are now needed to carry out the conversion.
- Wayne Poole of RMBC had been authorised by the last meeting of the Pennines Township to start consultation about the development of the Council’s land at Durn including a Marina.
- Littleborough Volunteer Lengthsman Scheme
- John Kay informed the meeting that a free community website had been set up by Rochdale Online on which Owls could record matters reported and Jon Stopp and the Canal Trust could add details of action taken

- The Tour De France & Littleborough festivals
- Jon Stopp confirmed that the Canal Trust and the Owls will have a Gazebo and stand at the Farmer’s Market on 13th July 2014
- John Kay gave a brief overview of the events organised for the three weeks commencing with the Tour De France weekend
