Minutes 138th Meeting - 16th August 2016
Littleborough Canalside Development Group
Minutes of the 138th Meeting held the 16th August 2016 at Hare Hill House Littleborough at 7.30pm
Present:-
Peter Evans (in the Chair), John F Kay, Jon Stopp, Nicky Clark, Brian Holden, Barry Horner, Julian Farnell, Ian Jackson
Apologies. Keith Hallam, Cllr Ann Stott JP, Bob Weatherley, Bob Furnell,
- The Minutes of the meeting on 19th July 2016 were approved
- John Kay updated the meeting on work being done by Littleborough Civic Trust
- John Kay reminded the meeting that the LCDG was the action group within Littleborough Neighbourhood Forum for matters relating to the Rochdale Canal. The Public Meeting to consider the future of the Neighbourhood Forum will not now take place on Tuesday 20th September 2016. In has been postponed until the council publish their Local plan in October 2016.
- LCDG continues to press for the creation of a Marina at Durn Littleborough. Nigel MacDonald will keep us informed
- Jon Stopp brought the meeting up to date with developments at the canal and river trust. There are still opportunities for volunteers.
- The “OWLS” Scheme, Adopt a Canal scheme and other volunteer opportunities are ongoing.
- Bob Furnell was absent due to ill Health and so could not update us on the Canalside Café Project.
- Julian Farnell and his girlfriend Nicky Clarke are still concerned about the lack of transparency in the plans for a Canalside Café. It was stressed that this is not a LCDG project
- There was further discussion about the Canal Boat. It was agreed that Julian Farnell would inspect the boat to see what was necessary to fit it out to provide a catering facility for Tea and Coffee and cakes etc., without public access onto the boat, and with tables and chairs on the tow path.
- John Kay will provide him with a copy of the report which we obtained about the boat.
- It is appreciated that this would be a project which would compete with Bob Furnell’s Canalside café but it was more likely to be financially viable and did not need a commitment to pay rent for a site.
- Jon Stopp will look into the licencing requirements with Canal & Rivers Trust
- There has been no progress on the Akzo Nobel Site
- The dates of the next meetings are
Tuesday 20th September 2016
Tuesday 18th October 2016
Tuesday 15th November 2016
