Hollingworth Lake has around 70 senior rowing members and 35 juniors, many of whom have progressed through the ever-expanding Project Oarsome scheme.
During the summer, club sessions are on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, although individual crews are often to be seen on the water at other times. During the winter, weekday evenings are taken up by the land-training and ergo programmes.
In 2005 senior men's crews have competed in a range of disciplines at Open and Veteran events across the country. Leading the senior men, Craig Morgan came second in elite sculls at Wallingford regatta before forming a double with Paul Turner of Grosvenor. This combination won silver at the National Championships and gold for Wales in the Home International Regatta.
The senior women's squad has continued to grow, both numerically and in terms of rowing performance. Building on their success in the 2004/05 head season, open and veteran crews have competed at regattas from Wallingford to Durham. Rebecca Caygill represented the club at Women's Henley - another first for Hollingworth's women.
The junior section of the club has also expanded over the summer, with many enthusiastic new rowers. Ruth and Lucy Walczak have had a remarkable season, achieving national representation at the Coupe de la Jeunesse and Home International Regatta.
The novice veteran men were successful in the National Veteran Championships and continue to promote a competitive network for people who come late to the sport.
