HOLLINGWORTH LAKE SAILING CLUB
Report for Sunday, 27th July 2008
It was not the easiest of days for sailors at the Lake on Sunday. No doubt the warm sunshine and occasional light breeze suited walkers and others enjoying the Rushbearing Festival. On the water, it looked as if a westerly wind would freshen only for it to die away again. The Fleet results showed consistency among those used to these conditions, with Martin and Rene Watts battling hard against Bruce Mager and Tass Greenhalgh in the Merlin Rockets. It was a 2-boat race in the GP 14s with Martin Brennan and Alistair Knott well able to defeat Graham Knox and John Coller, despite a surprise change briefly in the last race.
In the Solo fleet, Nick Brook had no problems in taking three bullets and Simon Yates showing how much better he can do in his new boat.
