INTRODUCTION TO THE COMMITTEE
This committee of nine meets regularly to plan fund raising events to help increase the monies available for research into cancers. The committee comprises Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer with six committee members and is run on business lines but is a non profit making voluntary group run completely by volunteers. It has been in existence approximately 50 years! Each year an average amount of £10,000 has been donated to Cancer Research UK [CRUK]. Our events are well publicised in the Heywood Advertiser, Rochdale Observer, Touchstones Tourist Information Centre, Libraries, local shops, Preview, Rochdale on Line, Streetwise and Bamford and District Delivered. All money raised by the Heywood and Rochdale Local Committee funds life saving research at the Cancer Research UK Institute in Manchester.
