Heywood & District Angling Society

About Us

Heywood & District Angling Society is a friendly family club based in Heywood in the North West.

Our flagship water Mutual Mills - a 24 peg lake, mixed fishery rudd, roach, perch, tench, bream, 5 types of carp, orfe, chub and gudgeon.

The Society was resurrected on the 1st August 2008, after the demise of the original Heywood Angling Society in 1986. All the original trophies have been transferred to the new society giving in excess of 26 trophies together with some additions for 2012 onwards.

The Society encourages junior membership as they are the anglers of the future - who in turn will teach and encourage others to take up the sport.

It is a known and recorded fact that there are more participants in fishing than football supporters! Over 1.5 million rod licences were sold in 2010 - more than the population of Birmingham the UKs second largest city. The Environment Agency estimate that 1 in 5 people in the UK are involved in Angling in some form at least once every 3 years.

Our Society is committed to Angling Development in the Heywood area - we have four licensed level 2 coaches, and one licenced level 3 coach, plus one coach educator. We run regular junior coaching sessions - all free with equipment provided.

One of the strengths of our Society is our commitment to providing accessible angling facilities for the North Wests disabled angling community - and have been awarded a British Disabled Angling Association Club Gold Award.
