Health and Safety
Here at Hamer amateur boxing club and community fitness centre we take health and safety very seriously which is why we have strict rules and regulations that have to be followed at all times to ensure the health and safety of everyone that attends the gym.
All participants are required to wear protective hand raps for bag work, pad work and sparring. All those who are sparring must always wear boxing gloves, protective head gear and mouth guards. All sparring sessions are closely monitored by experienced ABA approved boxing coaches.
Sparring is not an essential part of the gym and those of you who attend to get fit and improve general well-being do not have to participate should you not wish to do so.
Our coaches expect all persons attending our sessions to behave in a respectful and sporting manner not only towards the coaches but also towards each other.
Amateur boxing is a skilled sport with strict rules and safety precautions. It ranks 75th in the table of dangerous sport by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. That table includes football and rugby. It is also ranked the safest in contact sport with lower injury rates than that of football, hockey, gymnastics and roller blading.
