Denehurst Park Open Day 6th April 2019
Hundreds of children put the new-state-of-the-art children’s play area in Denehurst Park to good use for its open day on Saturday 6 April.
Kicking off with an Easter egg hunt, the park was jam-packed with activity for all the family.
Work on the new play area began in January after a successful grant bid by the Friends of Denehurst Park and Rochdale Borough Council.
The £98,048 grant from Viridor Credits Environmental Company, through the Landfill Communities Fund was matched by the council and enabled the park to be transformed into the borough’s first inclusive play park.
Suitable for children of all ages, the new play area includes traditional equipment such as slides, a roundabout and jungle gym adapted to including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
The new equipment has been chosen specifically to encourage imaginative social play and help children to develop sensory and motor skills.
