What a Result !
Congratulations!
Well done to all the under 10 players on their great success at the end of season tournament.
Not only did they win the tournament, but they won it true Falcons style, battling on to the end and seeing through what was an amazing day.
The boys started off a little shaky with a draw and a loss in the first two games. But after that it was plain sailing as they saw off Moston Valley Blue, Soccer Dynamos and Middleton Boys White to progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
On to the Quarter-finals were Springhead were the next challengers, the boys made hard work of this game but with some excellent defending from the two little Trojans (Ryan Taylor and Connor Ashurst) and just the one goal from Jordan (Mr Cool) Messer, which sent them through to the semis.
The Semi-final was a totally different ball game, in the way was Moston Valley Blue, this game was by far the best I have personally seen the Falcons play, excellent all round team performance was rounded off with one of the goals of the season by Connor. He picked the ball up in his own penalty area, played a couple of one twos with his team mates and scored a screamer right in the bottom corner, the keeper had no chance! The second goal was again another indication that the Falcons have bigger and better things to look forward to, this time Connors partner in crime Ryan, picked the ball up on the edge of the area before playing a pinpoint pass to Harry. Harry continued up the line before spotting a great run by the 'Ginger Ninja', Levi, he played the ball through to Levi who made no mistake of putting the tie to bed and sending the Falcons to the final with a great finish through the keepers legs, the final awaits.
The Final could not have been anymore tense with just one goal from Levi clinching the cup for the Falcons. The best thing about the victory in the final was the fact that we beat Moston Valley Red, which were the only team to beat the boys all day in the group stages, even though the Falcons deserved their victory in the final it didn’t come easy, as Moston put up a great fight all the way to the end, but with some great performance by all the lads they prevailed through as tournament champions!
A special mention to all the parents/guardians who woke up in the early hours of Saturday morning to provide support for the lads, everyone that turned up really boosted the lads confidence and morale. One quick special mention goes to Alan (Ryans Grandad) for arriving at Bowlee as early as 8 o'clock in the morning to set up camp in a perfect position for the day so, Thank you Alan.
WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!!

Parents/Grandparents Comments
The Fothergill Falcons played at Bowlee today in the Mini Soccer Tournament and Won the Cup. This little team has done so well we are all so proud of them and also of their managers, mum and son, Christopher and Dawn Fellows, dad Barclay manages the older team.
This family dedicate their lives to giving these youngsters a goal in life and today they were rewarded as you can see by the happy faces of this winning team. It is people like Barclay, Dawn & Chris, the committee & the organizers who do such a fantastic job with our youth, but seldom get thanks for it, and who make my life easier as a Councillor by taking them of the street and help them to live a dream. They set of at 7.30 am this morning and arrived home just after 5pm happy but tired. Really well done to everyone, parents and grandparents as well, who religiously turn up and support them. We are now looking forward to a huge party next weekend.
Regards
Jean Ashworth (Ryan Taylor's Grandma)
