Darts: Spotland and District Darts League finals night

The league concluded with Finals night at Sudden Social Club, presented by Sky Sport's Voice of darts, John Gwynne, on Thursday 26 April.

Donkey narrowly beat Harrows A in the Plate Competition final. 

Bay Horse B completed the double by defeating the Eagle in the Team Knockout final.

Owen Brierley beat Ste Wilson to set up a final against Lewis Holden in the Under 25s, who was handed a walkover in his semi-final. Owen who came out champion in a tense final. 

Tony Brophy was a class above his opponents In the Veterans Knockout as he completed wins over Bernard Griffiths and Billy Moss to take the title.

The First Division doubles saw Keith Hurren and Billy Sugden reach the final after taking out Simon Thornsby and Graham Fletcher from Norden Cricket Club.

The cricket club went one better in the other semi-final, with Chris Higgins and Paul Maddock progressing at the expense of K Hurn and A Brierley from the Donkey. 

The cricket club players who came out on top in an entertaining final. 

Keith Hurren made it two finals from two with a win over Chris Higgins in the semi-final of the First Division singles, where he met Ashley Baker of the Donkey after Ashley defeated Sean Marriott of the Royds in the other semi-final. Ashley took the title after a dominant display of scoring.

The game of the night was the final of the Premier Division doubles. An all Bay Horse B affair, Alan Fitzpatrick and Duane Garfield versus James Marcroft and Chris O'Connor.

An amazing final was played out in 16, 17, 13, 17 and 15 darts, with James and Chris pulling into a 2-0 lead before Duane and Alan pegged back to 2-2 and missed one match dart before a 108 finish from James sealed a match that the professionals would have been proud of.

Duane Garfield defended his Premier Division singles title as he beat multiple times former champion Tim Holt in another good quality final.  Duane earlier beat his team mate Stuart Ellis in the semi final.

Aspecial recognition award was presented to Bernard Griffiths, former chairman of Spotland and District Darts League for his "tireless and extensive services to the league".
