Police News – Heywood & Middleton
Date published: 28 February 2015
Inspector Steve Hanlon said: "I attended a Question Time session at Heywood on Thursday (26 February), where young people from Middleton and Heywood were able to ask a panel of professionals all kinds of questions about health, transport, politics, policing, youth services and the environment. We often hear negative comments about young people, but this event showed just how intelligent, informed and caring our local young people are. It was a pleasure to be present.
"I have started an operation to prevent anti-social behaviour at Darnhill. I hope that this initiative is as successful as the operation we are running in Heywood town centre. I was in Heywood town centre last weekend and the youngsters and my staff largely seemed to have a good rapport. There were few incidents for the second weekend running.
"Some good news on the burglary front - a juvenile has been convicted of burglary and breach of ASBO offences and received 18 months detention."
