College says don’t worry if your GCSE English isn’t as you expected

Hopwood Hall College is reassuring young applicants to its courses this September by saying: “If you think that you are possibly a victim of  this year’s harsher marking of GCSE English, then don’t worry. We may be able to help. Simply pop into the College to chat with our friendly staff and we’ll do our best to help.”

Senior management at the College have explained that they sympathise with local youngsters who may be affected by the grading issues this year. The national press has reported that head teachers up and down the country think that the grade boundaries have been moved up this year, causing a lot of students to get a lower grade than expected. They say that they are very willing to be flexible with applicants who may have just missed the grade they needed.

Deputy Principal John Spindler adds that there is also a second chance for each of their students to gain a higher GCSE English grade: “All of our full-time students are able to do a re-sit alongside their chosen course, should they wish to. Worried applicants and their parents are wholeheartedly encouraged to come to the College – either the Rochdale or Middleton campus  -  and chat about their options.”
