15 year old runs ‘after-school’ club
Date published: 21 August 2012
As part of his participation in the Unlocking Potential programme with the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust and exam board AQA, Nathan Milner, aged 15, of Rochdale has been running ‘after-school’ projects in the Rochdale and Bury area, with the aid of his athlete mentor, Neil Danns, a former Skateboarding European Champion.
On Tuesday 14 August, Nathan held one such ‘after-school’ club for young people aged 8-15 at Millwood School, Radcliffe, focussed around fire safety, with members from the local fire service. Within the workshop, the young people were educated about the fire service’s role and purpose in the community, and fire safety.
Nathan has also been working in the community with Bury Football Club, running multi-sports sessions and team-building sessions for young people.
Nathan Milner is one of 20 young people selected to work with sports mentors on projects across the country.
