13-year-old April sets up charity fun day
Date published: 30 July 2012
April Greenwood from Wardle is hoping her Olympics-themed fun day will raise lots of money for the CHUF (Children’s Heart Unit Fund) charity next month.
13-year-old April’s cousin Ethan Lloyd was born with 3 rare heart defects, and it’s thanks to CHUF’s team at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital he has made such a remarkable recovery.
April said: “CHUF have saved his life many times, so this is our way of raising money and saying thank you. At every opportunity I do something to help CHUF and the Freeman Hospital.”
The Olympic-themed fun day takes place on 11 August at the Hare & Hounds pub in Wardle, kicking off at 1.30pm. Attractions include sporting events, a tombola, raffles, karaoke and a bouncy castle.
Entry to the fun-filled event is free, with all money raised throughout the day going to CHUF.
If you have anything to donate to April’s raffle or tombola, contact aprilchuf@hotmail.co.uk or call 07980 988 377.
