The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) in the North has welcomed Food and Farming Minister Jim Paice’s call for the catering industry to tell diners where their food comes from.
CLA North Director of Policy and Public Affairs Douglas Chalmers said: “We have been running our “Just Ask” campaign for several years now and are delighted that Defra has finally recognised the importance of consumers knowing where the food on their plate comes from.
“We want everyone buying a meal – whether from a Michelin-starred restaurant or a burger van - to ask about the provenance of the food they’re being served.”
Mr Chalmers added: “Our campaign provides the perfect platform for retailers to satisfy the public’s growing interest in where their food comes from and to promote the flavour and freshness that is synonymous with quality UK-produced food.”
