Has Rochdale borough got talent?

Date published: 16 July 2012

Are you part of a band that sees yourselves as the next Stone Roses? Have you dance moves like Diversity? Or perhaps you want to sing it like Jessie J?

Rochdale Borough Council’s Youth Service is on the look out for all young people, with a talent to show off, to audition for a borough wide showcase that will be held in August.
Over the past month, auditions have been held where many young people have performed. The last auditions are being held this Friday, 20 July, 4pm -6pm, at Heywood Sports Village where the final acts will be chosen.

Jill Amos, Youth Worker at the council’s Youth Service who has been organising the event said: “We’ve seen some great talent so far from comedians, musicians, singers and dancers turning up and performing.

“But there will be more young people out there who would love to take part and show off their talent to an audience. Come along to the auditions and give it a go.”

The talent show will be held on 10 August at Middleton Arena. Last year was a real success with 22 acts wowing an audience of approximately 250 people.

Donna Martin, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families said: “This is an annual event organised and is a great showcase for young people to take part in. I look forward to seeing the acts taking part this year.”

For anyone wanting to audition, turn up on the day or book an audition slot by calling 01706 923131 or email jill.amos@rochdale.gov.uk
