Artist achieves success at Hopwood Hall College

Date published: 12 July 2012

Artist, Azadeh Sabagh, has passed her ESOL English course and achieved an award for making the best progress in ESOL at Hopwood Hall College.

While passing her E3 ESOL English, she was chosen as the person who had made the 'Best Progress in ESOL' at Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale Campus, and received an award at the recent ceremony.

Azadeh is, however, also an accomplished artist, and has been completing a Foundation Degree in Art at Hopwood Hall too. A gallery of her canvasses was given pride of place at an exhibition displayed at Hopwood Hall at the end of the year.

To escape brutal police activity in Iran, following the 'rigged' presidential elections, Azadeh came to the UK in 2009 with her husband, Kia. Although they are struggling to make ends meet while waiting for permission to remain in the UK, Azadeh has been active in pursuing her education.

Azadeh does not have permission to work in the UK, and her future is uncertain, but she is pleased to live in Rochdale, among friends, and is putting her skills and abilities to the best use possible.
