Repairs on the rail embankment near The Cray
Date published: 06 July 2012
Transport for Greater Manchester have issued a release stating that repairs are needed on the rail embankment to the north of the Oldham Rochdale Metrolink line near The Cray, Milnrow.
Work will begin on 9 July on a section of embankment approximately 40 metres long which requires batter repair works, and is due to be finished within three weeks.
It has been agreed that the site will be accessed via The Cray, so as not to disrupt the construction of the new Metrolink line.
Works and delivery of materials will take place between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday through Friday.
There will be measures in place to reduce the impact of the works on local residents and the 70+ properties affected.
Quarried stone is to be stockpiled off site and only one load will be delivered at a time to avoid queuing within the housing estate; navvy mats will be used to protect the road surface and grass verges and a road sweeper will be used to regularly clean the roads on the delivery route.
Transport for Greater Manchester apologises for any inconvenience caused.
