Date published: 03 July 2012
A woman was sexually assaulted near to a pub in Rochdale town centre.
At about 4.30am on Sunday 24 June the 32-year-old victim was walking home with a friend when she got to the junction of Drake Street and Oldham Road.
As she walked near to the Cask and Feather pub she was assaulted by a man.
Her friend pushed him off her and then the attacker ran off along Drake Street, towards School Lane.
The victim was physically uninjured but left shocked by what happened.
The offender is described as white, about 5ft 9in tall with a slim build, wearing a grey jacket or grey hooded top with the hood up and dark coloured jeans.
Detective Constable Gerard Fisher, of Rochdale CID, said: “The victim is now being supported by specially-trained officers and we are working with her to build up an accurate picture of exactly what happened.
“This happened at about 4.30am, but we believe there were still people around at that time of the day who might be able to help us.
“I would ask that, if you were out in Rochdale town centre in the early hours of the morning and you saw something suspicious then please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4646 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
