Opening of new school extension
On Friday we held the official opening of our new school extension.

After amazing singing and drumming performances from our children, the Mayor of Rochdale then provided a speech. Jimmy Cricket told some jokes and presented trophies to the finalists of St. John’s has got talent before cutting the ribbon to officially open the extension.

Afterwards, guests were provided with refreshments before being shown around the school.

Tuesday 3 July – Moving up day
On our ‘moving up’ day, each class of children progresses to the next teacher for the morning to become familiarised with their new setting. Nursery children have a turn in Reception and at the top end of the school, Year 6 spend the day at their secondary school.

Thursday 5 July – School disco It is Summer Disco time again. The disco starts at 6pm and finishes at 8pm on Thursday; admission is £1 per person (child or adult). All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, preferably a parent.

Cliff will be in the DJ seat again and refreshments will be on sale during the evening.

Sports The school took part in the following sports events:

Rounders Final – Monday 18 June

Golf – Tuesday 19 June

Mini Stars Competition – Wednesday 20 June

Girls Football – Thursday 21 June

Golf Finals – Friday 22 June

Certificate Awards
Awards went to Class 1 highest attendance and Class 5 for good behaviour in and around the school.

Other Business
Medical and other appointments
Prior notice must be given to the school office to avoid disruption to classes and school business. Appointment cards should be shown.

Leave during term time
Leave will not be authorised for holidays/absences taken out of the normal school holidays.

Attendance:
If you are late getting up in the morning it is not an excuse keep the children away from school. We would rather the children be late than miss a day of school so please bring them as soon as they have eaten breakfast.

Dinner money:
Please remember that dinner money must be paid on a weekly basis. If two weeks have passed without payment you may be asked to provide packed lunches.
